Interested in trying rugby?
New players of any experience level are welcome and encouraged to come try rugby at Cal! Whether you are a seasoned rugby player or an athlete that’s interested in trying out a new sport, we invite you to come check out our team. As a sports club, we do not have tryouts; any interested player can practice with the team; more competitive players will compete for roster spots for league matches. The team usually fills both an A-Side team (league matches and traveling squads) and a development B-Side team. Cross-over athletes are encouraged to join, regardless of which competitive sports you’ve participated in.
Rugby is a full contact sport, and our team aims to be competitive nationally. While we don’t currently have varsity status, our players are dedicated to creating a high performance environment for themselves and their teammates. The team has a ton of fun, both on and off the pitch, but hard work and a solid commitment are required for student-athletes hoping to become a part of Cal Women’s Rugby. If any non-athletes are interested in being a part of our club, there are many opportunities to help with administrative duties, team management responsibilities, and communication efforts.
Please e-mail us at firstname.lastname@example.org for more information about practices and joining the team.
